Just to add to what I said, you will have to judge for yourself if you actually have the "lens cap on" problem, this mostly shows up by the LCD screen and viewfinder being blank even although the camera is switched on, although sometimes a person can get peculiar streaks of colour, or dull blurred images to the extent nothing can be made out.

I have a JVC Digital Video Cam GR-D72U. English manual was not provided. What is the resolution ? Need to know as soon as possible...what to video grandchildren at Christmas play. Debra
