Re[4]: Error Codes Assistance

Arie Posted Nov 26, 2005, in response to:Nick

Hi Nick Thanks for the advise. There are a few differences in my case: I wasn't getting the NO DISC message upon inserting discs, the DVD Player was trying to read it (Showing 0---- 00--- and back to 0---- until it gave an H02 error message). I opened up the DVD Player anyway, and what I saw was that the DVD drive was spinning (quite slowly) when I inserted a disk - as if it was having trouble reading the disc. After playing with it for a while it decided to read the disc, so I started playing the movie. The first fiew minutes of the movie played ok, and then it started to get jerky and then completely froze. The LED display on the DVD player was 'almost' blinking (I say almost because it went from bright to less bright and back, instead of on and off). Pressing STOP stopped the movie, but the display kept showing the same location (chap/min/...) in the movie, until I pressed the Eject button and the DVD Disk was ejected. I'm quite sure the H02 problem is not mechanical, I currently suspect a laser head malfunction or some other I/O function on the DVD board to have gone nuts. Unless someone find a way to fix that that I can apply myself, I will not bother with taking it to a technician, since it would be a lot cheaper just getting a new DVD player (even though I *love* this one). In any case, any help would be welcome. Regarding my previous 'solution' of turning V.S.S. off, that enabled me to read disks, but the DVD player would give up after some minutes into the movie like I described above.
