How to connect an XM Receiver to a Nutone Intecom.

I receiently up graded my home intercom from a Nutone 303 to a new 3303. I have a XM Receiver that I would like to hook up to this. The XM receiver is a 1/8" sterio output and the Nutone intecom is RCA mono input. Currently I have a Radio Shack 1/8" stereo to a single RCA in tin connected to a gold series RCA cable. Has anyone else done this and has a better recomendation as to how to hang on to what little bit of sound quality can be transmitted from the XM receiver to the intercom? Thanks, Jeff
