Re: JVC service or questions

Bruce Muir Posted Nov 17, 2005, in response to:Stacy Sample

I have a JVC KD-S550 CD radio the battery in my car went flat when the radio was still on (the ignition was off, but I left my lights on) After the RACV gave me a jump-start, the display on the radio now shows a message "error 10" I have tried to reset the radio following the instructions in the manual but it has no effect I can not turn the power off to the radio, either I listen to static or detach the control panel Any ideas please? Regards, Bruce

I see you reset it as per the handbook instructions, but did that procedure mentioned indicate completely disconnecting the unit from the power, as this is always the best policy with digital equipment of any type, IE; completely isolate it from its power source for about 2 or 3 minutes, then reset. If it doesn't work after that, then a power surge could have damaged the circuitry, but this is very unlikely to have occurred if the jump start was from another vehicles battery, as its only the mains powered jump start units that can cause all sorts of problems with any sensitive devices connected at the time. (including sometimes the vehicles own control system modules)
