Re[2]: There goes another one - 7 yr. old Sony KV-27V40 DEAD !

G. Wood Posted Nov 16, 2005, in response to:Dave

The power supply has blown . It's caused by worn out welds that are made at the factory and , because being done by machine on an assembly line, are insufficient. When the welds wear out, the power supply blows and ruins some transistors as well. This is such a common problem with these Sonys that my very good repairman knew exactly what the problem was without opening up the back of the TV. It cost $130 to get repaired - parts & labor. I'll forward another person's (from Detroit)story with the same problem. The annoying aspect of this is that you pay up for Sonys, expecting superior quality, but this seems such a common problem that Sony should consider a recall or lose its reputation for better quality (higher prices).
