Hi everybody, I have got my JVC GR-DVL100 since more than 4 years. And now, I cannot use it anymore because it does not work in reading and recording. The following message always appears: "E04 Unit in safeguard mode Remove and reattach battery" Can you help me in solving this problem if there is a solution. Please let me know. Thanks in advance

It seems that this is a common problem. I have had my DVL100 for almost 5 years now and the same thing started a couple of years ago. Are you using Sony or TDK tapes ? The problem as I have found could be related to the use of inapropriate tapes due to some coating layers used on these brands. 1) So stop using SONY or TDK on your JVC camcorder. 2) Never leave the tape inside the machine 3) Remove battery when not in use 4) On some forums, people who had the same problem advise "shaking" the camcorder ??? Sounds odd but works. These 4 points worked for me and i am able to use my JVC again.
