Re[3]: JVC problem: vertical colored lines

Kyriacos Posted Nov 09, 2005, in response to:John Neilson

It's the second case. Vertical color lines with fuzzy distorted image is displayed when you try to record something and is appearing the same in both LCD and viewfinder. I saw a message in FAQ of JVC UK side, that says that this problem can be fixed and that is free of charge until Oct 2007 but unfortunatly I am living in Cyprus so I need to find a local authorized repairing center or at least to have some instructions from somebody on how to do fix it and what spare part it will be needed provided that this is something that do not need some very special equipment for fixing it. Thanks

It was possibly my posting that you seen, as these problems are widespread across a range of their models, but unfortunately this fact is not known by many users who have the problem. I would enquire as to where the nearest JVC service depot is for your part of the world, as you have to contact JVC first anyway, and they tell you where to take it (or send it) to, giving you an authorisation note for the free repair, that is of course if it is the CCD that's failed!!, as they have done in hundreds of their camcorders. Unfortunately I do not think they would supply you with the CCD module, as they maintain it has to be fitted by a qualified person, which generally means some business "they" approve of.
