I had the same error on my sony dcs-p41 cam. After searching the net i didnt have much hope let but kept on trying. Go to menu, tab 2 the memorystick, the format OK.... i did it twice and then suddenly next to the 3th line of "Change rec folder" the icon of a cam appeared again and there it was... my problem was solved.. ITS WORKING AGAIN!!!!! I HOPE IT WORKS 4 U 2, it had nothing to do with the bended strips or so. I had a second stick and that was still working so the cam was ok for sure. PS: i also put the stick on lock and took it off a couple of times (played with the switch on the back of the stick) It might have been the problem too... i will never know but i am happy with the result.
