Camcorder is useless under low light conditions
Hi Stacy,
I own a JVC GR-D30US and my problem is filming when there is very low light in a room.
At first I thought it was the way camcorders behaved until my friend brought his to one of our gigs. His camera is a Canon ZR50. We both were filming (hand holding the camera)a band playing on stage and we both did not have any additional light accessory. There are not lights facing us as we are filming but plenty of light on the subjects on stage.
My camcorder JVC GR-D30U (no matter what settings I used... I've read the manual more than priest reads the bible :)) did not even compare with the quality the Canon could deliver. His playback was similar to what the lightin conditions were at the time. My playback was totaly dark and somber, black and it was very hard or next to impossible to tell what had just been filmed.
I brought it back to the store that I purchased the camera and the salesman did not seem to understand what I was explaining to him, he kept saying that my camera was behaving correctly and that if I wanted to film night scenes I would need to buy a 3000$ camera to do this.
Well that is not what I going to do, I'm not bashing JVC or promoting Canon, I just wan't to be able to film under poor conditions (resonably low lightin) and not have a picture that is extremely granular almost like a pixelated sepia color, that looks like it was filmed in the 1930's.
When the sun is out and there is not a cloud then the picture looks perfect but add a cloud in the mix and the camera has no idea what's going on and starts to blur and get out of focus very easily.
I hope you can help me
