JVC GY-DV500 error 7101

How can I find out if the problem is the Capstan motor, MDA circuit or FG detector circuit. I have a service manual. This camara is used by students and they have had a problem with the tape not ejecting for a while, but this time I had to remove the tape using DC without forced eject. thanks for any help
