HomeBlue screen on playback The camcorder has always worked fine, but after changing a tape the unit reported that it was in "safeguard mode" and later reported that it needed a head cleaning. I bought a new head cleaning tape, which did away with both of those errors. The problem now is that playback only produces a blue screen (whether viewing the LCD or connecting to an external monitor). It acts like it records just fine, but no way of knowing if it is recording since playback is blue. It reports no errors and behaves normally (rewind, ff, play, etc.) but doesn't produce video. Help! Is there a "hard reset" for this model?

Problem solved very easily... too good to be true? Temporarily, I don't know.. but.. while reading through solutions to the E04 error (UNIT IN SAFEGUARD MODE). Many people reported removing the tape, closing the door, knocking on the door with your knuckle, then reloading the tape. BINGO. Like magic it's back to normal. I knocked somewhat lightly about 10 times and reloaded the tape... 40 seconds later the unit is working. Looks like this simple fix may remedy bad/failed playback as well. |
