having replaced the lens assembly - no image

having replaced the lens assembly the lens operates in and out, however after the startup tune the lens comes out fully, then the lens motor keeps running and the screen stays blank, then the lens closes and the message +beeb comes on saying turn off and on camera. This continues in the same cycle – could this be the image finder or focusing ? it’s the same with smart zoom on or off.
