Battery compartment broken

Hi, I have a cd-400 mavica camera which works great hooked up to the 120Vac adapter. It will not work with a battery however. I have put in a fully charged battery and I do not get any power. When I plug it in to the wall it works fine. What can I do to get the battery compartment fixed? The battery I used was taken from another identical camera that is functioning wonderfully.
