dsr1800 timecode break

Hi im using a sony dsr1800 dvcam to record from my g5 and ve simply connected the sdi o/p of the g5 to the sdi i/p of the vtr. the recording goes all well but the timecode always break. when i insert a new dv i rewind it and save a zero timecode. after that i record a color bar for about 40secs. here i rewind the tape for around a sec and save the displayed timecode again. before hiting the record button i switch on the search. here my timecode breaks i.e. the timecode even goes to show around 10minutes where the correct timecode should be 39sec for the above senario. please help thanx
