The doorbell is constantly dinging

The house we purchased has a Scovill 3003 intercom system. Everything use to work correctly, but about 2 or 3 months ago, the doorbell started a constant ding (instead of the doorbell melody) even though no one was pushing the button or even near the button. It started out doing it for about 10 minutes then quit, now it is doing it constantly. I have disconnected the wires at the doorbell outside, but that didn't stop the ding. My wife turned off the speaker switches on the master panel. Now there is a constant clicking from the master panel. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix it or what may be causing it? Also, what model would be used to replace the master control panel without having to re-wire the house and would the speakers need to be replaced?
