keep shutting off

My samsung tv will shut off after five seconds of turning it on. So i cant use the remote to get to the menu to find out the problem?? i tried unplugging it from wall for a day, to see if it would reset which did not help. I think it might have something to do with timer/sleep??? even though i have never used timer/sleep mode. It is a Samsung cxd1942 19' tv/vcr combo
