Son getting into Pro Video... Need help with Camera Purchase

I am looking at buying a camera for my son who is in Video and TV Broadcast classes. Today,I found 2 Panasonics. One was an older modle with some really nice lenses. (Kicking self for not getting modle # down) and the other was a PK-958. Both were just the camera. I am wondering #1 what goes with these.... #2 Where does the Tape go?.... #3 can i still buy a manual for these? Thanks for your help.
