16/9 conversion lens worth money and effort?

I am pondering the purchase of a century optics 16/9 or anamorphic wide screen conversion lens for my next project. The camera is a Cannon GL1. I have yet to see a real example of it in action, and wonder how much it will inhibit focal range or complicate my production. Any words?
