Re: JVC service or questions

Scott Manchester Posted Aug 26, 2005, in response to:Stacy Sample

I have a JVC AV-27050 television which has malfunctioned. Initially the picture suddenly dropped to a smaller size then a few seconds later the picture went blank and the "On/Off" light started clicking on and off repeatedly maybe once/second (like it wass trying to turn on but trips out on every try). Attempts to affect this cycling using the remote control have no apparent effect nor can the remote off button stop the cycling. Can you offer any insight whether you are familiar w/ these symptoms or at least suggest if repair is worth pursuing. Thx.

The problem / symptom you mention is almost certainly caused by the power supply shutting down because a fault has developed and judging by what you mention its most likely in the vertical scan circuit, as this area is prone to problems in quite a number of different models which use similar chassis. The repair usually involves going over the IC's solder joints, however if this makes no difference replacing the IC along with an adjacent capacitor is the usual cure. (the capacitor is possibly the well documented C926 and sometimes replacing this alone cures the fault)

I have that same tv & it's been great these past 6 years or so. I hope it's not about to go kaput like yours did. I don't really have any advice except to unplug it & plug it in.
