I've tried and tried different methods to overcome this problems with my GR-DX77U camcorder. After rereading different manuals, finally I hit it and solved the problem.If you not using the unit for an extended period of time, the internal rechargeable lithium battery have to be recharged, by using your regular battery charger for a minimum of 24 hours. This lithium battery loose it's charge, even if you not using the camcorder since it keeps the internal setting "alive" Do this every 2-3-4 months and the problem will vanish George
