Date and time will not retain in memory.

My JVC GR-DVM70 is about five years old. Everything works fine except one thing. After turning the camera on, I get a message in red letters that says "SET DATE/TIME!" After I set the date and time, if I turn the camera off and then back on even with the battery still in place, I lose the date and time as well as all other menu settings since they revert back to default factory settings. Is there an internal battery that retains date/time and menu information in the internal memory?
