Re: sony TV KV-35V36 powersupply problem

Eric Posted Jul 25, 2005, in response to:tony

Send me your e-mail address and I'll send some drawings for a KV-32S36 which is very close to your model. The power supply circuits are identical. I believe R602 is 10 ohm fusible not .1 ohm. Also check VD601, C609 and C610. Check for a shorted Hot (Q502) and if it is, check Flyback T503 as well. Disconnect the Degauss Coil and if you have a variac bring the AC up slowly while monitoring the AC current. If you don't have a variac try putting a 150W bulb in series with the AC power and if it lights bright you still have a problem. If the lamp lights bright try removing the HOT and connect two 100W lamps in series across the collector and base. If the lamp now lights dim you have a problem in the Horizontal Output Circuit (Flyback) or I've even heard of a defectice CRT causing excessive load on the HOT. If you do get the set to finally power up check solder joints on the Horizontal Drive Transformer T501. Good Luck, Eric

I have KV35S26, I replace Q601, Q602, R607 and Q502 severial times. I bought four sets from Electronix Online SONY POWER SUPPLY KIT (80-113 ) already. First time: 4 weeks ago. The TV dead, no power, After I replace Q601, Q602, R607 and Q502 ( all of them are damaged), it worked for 3 weeks. sometime it shutdown ny itself, but I can turn it on again. But one week ago, I can not turn on it anymore. Second time: After I replaced Q601, Q602, R607 and Q502 again, they all be damaged immediately. I saw a spark around C610. I found C610 is short. all Q601, Q602, Q502 and R607 are damaged. Third time: I replace Q601, Q602, R607, Q502, C610 and C609. I am sure Caps and resistors around Q601 and Q602 are right. After i turn on the power, the TV got normal for 5 seconds, then dead again. Now i suspect that Q502 short causes Q601 and Q602 short. Do you have any suggestion ? If I need to check to flyback, could you give some detail direction. The soder joints for T501 ( HDT ) looks good to me. Thank you very much.
