I need help troubleshooting the possible cause of vertical noise bars on my vx-1000.

Upon playback of my video I see several (30 to 50 VERTICAL bars of noise on the image. The image itself is not exceptionally degraded. The bars do not change position and they seem to be sub-divided into bars of colour depending on the image being played back. Any ideas what it could be. The heads have been cleaned and the repair shop said it didn't sound like an alignment problem. All help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Darryl
