GL-1 Does increasing sharpness in the menu cause grainy picture?

I set the exposure and shutter speed mannually during a daylight. Gain was zero. But when I watched the footage on TV monitor, some areas were very grainy. It looked more like over sharpened. For example, trees in the back ground was not clear. I could see tiny dots flashing. Why does this happen? Also throught the viewfinder it looks really clear but through a TV monitor it looks really different. What do I need to be careful in the future? Thanks for reading.
