JVC GR-D70 Lens Cap Problem

Altaf Posted Jun 08, 2005

Shows "Lens Cover" error even after the lens cover is removed

My JVC camcorder suddenly developed this problem. It shows the Lens cover error even after I remove the lens cap. The LCD screen is all black while I try to record. I kept trying it many times, but still the same. So basically, I can't record anything--can only play back the previous recordings. Please help.

I had this problem 3 years ago, and I brought it to the official technical service where it was repaired without any cost. They told me it was due to a non conformed part. They fixed the camera and solved the problem for free. Yesterday talking with two fathers after picking up the kids at school, they told me they also had this problem on their JVC VideoRecorder, but they never went to the official technical service and their camera is still broken down so they don't use it.

Hy everyone I have been facing the same problem with my JVC GR-D70. However no message of " lens cap " or other thing is displayed on LCD screen or viewfinder. Everything is black and it´s also difficult to run the menu. Considering playing back function everything is OK so no problem related to LCD or viewfinder. If you friends have any idea on what´s up with this camera please let me know thanks and regards Armando ( from Brazil )

Can't offer support, but I had the same problem two months ago with my JVC GR-SXM250. My wife and I contacted JVC and they basically ignored us. They said repairs would be anywhere from $170-$250. I paid $240 15 months ago for it. So, JVC has just lost me as a customer. But, like you, I'd love to get it repaired, nonetheless.
