Here is a self service knowledgebase for SONY (and maybe JVC) camcorders

My camcorder displayed an error code an was then disabled. I found this site with the list of error codes. My older model has a reset button (next to End Search) but otherwise it instructs you to take out the "wafer" battery to rest the error code. Best wishes Phil
