I started receiving the C:13:01 format error on my sandisk 128mb memory stick (Sony cybershot camera) after inserting my memory stick into a new Sony TV with MS slot and viewing the pictures directly through the TV.

I knew I could format the memory stick on the camera, but knew that would delete all the pictures on the MS and I wanted to save them first. I was able to recover all pictures from the MS using FREEWARE smart recovery (http://www.snapfiles.com/Freeware/system/fwdatarecovery.html). It did take some time to download but worked like a charm afterwards. Before trying smart recovery, I downloaded several other programs that had been suggested on different sites and didn't have any luck with any of them. Hope this helps someone else!!
