Buckle attaching the Grip Belt to camera has broken and disappeared. How is it replaced ?

The grip belt attachment to my Panasonic GS5 video camera has broken. One end has only the fabric strap with a hole in it. The 'buckle' or whatever attaches to the camera is missing. Our repair centre says that they have 'never seen this' and it could cost $150+ to fix. Can one fix it oneself ? What is reasonable to repait it ?
