EO1 error msg on JVC mini dv camera, need help

Having trouble with my JVC Mini DV Camera, keep getting an EO1 message display, is not functioning, can see the screen, but unable to play, or record...any one else out there with the same problem. I've basically been told that it would be 450 dollars to fix, so not worth fixing unless we can do it on our own. Thanks
