Sony DSC P30

I bought a new memory stick 256 MB for my camera and when I turn it on the mesage on the display is "memory stick error C:13:01"...If I switch back with the previous one (16 MB) everything is ok, no error...Why? On the new one is writen "Sony Memory Stick PRO Magic Gate" Any ideea?
