Can't guarantee this will work, since my camera is SONY TRV140 and it had the same blue screen problem. I've seen other posts with SONY and JVC together, so maybe what worked for me will help. DCR or VCR, the same mechanics are involved. The problem, as near as I can tell is dirty playback heads. Don't bother with the $20 tape head cleaner - it's worthless. If you want to try simplicity first, put a previously recorded tape into the machine and let it play until the end, or until the picture comes back. Try it twice. This method will sometimes work if there's some dirt that the tape playing or rewinding can dislodge. If that doesn't work, you must clean the playback heads (the little, shiny spinning drum). You may need to remove the door to the tape loader, or the cover, to get inside. If you don't have liquid head clear, use liquid CD/DVD cleaner. Using a lintless Q-Tip (or a real Q-Tip if you must), moisten it and give the head a good scrubbing. If the Q-Tip is not abrasive, you can scrub hard without scratching the head. You may need to manually turn the drum to access the entire surface. When done cleaning, another Q-Tip can be used to attempt to dry the head, but don't be surprised if you encounter a "moisture error" when you try using the camera. A couple of minutes using a hairdryer on a low setting will dry it right out (don't let the camera get overheated). Once the camera is able to play again, the blue screen should be replaced by the recorded picture. If not, try rewinding the tape and playing again. Lots of headaches piecing this together from other posts, but it worked. Good Luck
