Re: JVC Color Video Camera Model GX-N7U

Lee Posted May 02, 2005, in response to:Kris (and son)

Hi: This is probably one of the JVC cameras from the mid-1980s. Usually they had a multi-pin cable (about 6 feet) that came out the back and inserted into a VCR. However, the VCRs weren't like the ones we buy today. They were in 2 pieces and one of those pieces let you insert a video tape. Sometimes you can find these on Ebay under vintage video cameras or vintage VCR. They usually go for about $15 with shipping $10 to $20. You need both pieces in good working condition. However, it sounds like you don't know if the camera works. You might have your son take the camera to a repair shop run by someone who has a lot of old stuff. He/She may have an old 2-unit VCR the camera can be cabled to so that you can find out if the camera works. I would do that before spending more money on a VCR. You also might try Googling the model number and try to find the manual for the camera. Good luck. Lee

    I have the complete JVC system which includes, the GX-7u camera,
    the JVC Tuner Adaptor TU-S10U, and the Video Cassete Recorder HR-S10U.Photos attached.I intend to put it on Ebay, but don't know what price to ask. I haven't tried to recharge the battery;
    don't know if it is still good. I plugged it into an AC outlet, and it still works.Attached are a few photos. I believe it would
    be a collectors item for a vintage collector. Frank
