JVC GR-D70U camcorder is stuck on maximum optical zoom, and won't go back. It just clicks.

JVC GR-D70U camcorder. I've had it over a year. The problem is that it is stuck on maximum optical zoom, and won't go back. It just clicks. I've had it all apart, and the mechanical part of the lens assembly seems to be working ok. The motors work, and nothing is broken or has slipped out of place. Has anybody had a similar problem? Does anybody know how to fix this camcorder? Thanks.
