JVC GR-D30U Not charging battery

Brad Posted Apr 30, 2005

I have bought two replacement batteries for my JVC GR-D30U camcorder (non JVC brand battery) and the charging indicator LED is not flashing.

I have bought two replacement batteries my JVC GR-D30U camcorder (non JVC brand) and the charging indicator LED on the camera is not flashing. The first was by a company called Again & Again and the second, Energizer. I figured with the first battery, maybe it was just garbage but now with the Energizer, I'm having my doubts. The camera will turn on fine with the battery attached with the charge that came on the camera or with the battery attached and power plugged in. However, when attempting to charge the battery, the LED indicating a charge isn't present. Usually the LED will flash once when plugging power into the camera and flash again when unplugging the power. The old battery, which is no longer accepting a charge, will actually get the LED flash, indicating that its trying to charge. Of course, this problem becomes apparent one week prior to vacation as an added bonus. Any ideas?

We have what we thought was the same problem with our JVC GR-D30U. We actually tested our battery, however, and it is fully charged. The problem seems to be that the Camcorder won't take the power from the battery. It works fine when plugged in. I called JVC service center and they said we need to send it in to the nearest service center who will give us an estimate on the charges to fix it. The phone number to call is 1-800-252-5722, option 3 to get the service center closest to you. We don't have any other info because we have yet to send it in. We'll update if we find anything else out.

Hi, Same problem with my camera. Worked fine for a few months...then suddnely the battery wouldn't charge. I bought a second battery, which worked once. On second recharge, it no longer powers the camera. Seems to be a problem with the camera, not the batteries. The camera works fine connected via wall outlet. *sigh!* Anyone have a solution?
