No image appears on JVC GR-D33 Camcorder.

Mrinal Posted Apr 25, 2005

I bought a JVC GR-D33 Camcorder few months back. For the last few days I am observing a problem with the product: When in A mode or M mode (camera modes) no image appears on the viewfinder or screen.

The camcorder is not able to read any image. When set to the camera modes, it says "Remove lens cap" for the first 5 seconds. This happens even when the lens cap is removed and then the camera is turned on. However playback works fine, when the camera is set to the Play mode. Please help.

    camcoder ccd defective

It sounds like the iris on the lens of your camcorder is not opening. The iris on the camcorder is much like the iris in a human eye. Take the camcorder into a fairly dark room and look into the lens. You should notice two black diamond shaped halves that open. Shine a flashlight into the lens and they should close. Remove the light and they should open again. If the iris functions as mentioned it it's possible that your CCD is defective. Eric
