Looking for assistance with problems aquiring picture in the LCD screen and through the eyepiece.

At turn on a Lens Cap warning appears on the screen even though the lens cap may not be in place. The screen then goes dark , what appears to be a hand in the halt position in brackets is in the extreme bottom left of the screen and a yellow signal flashes in the bottom centre of the screen. This signal looks to be a human shoulders and head on the left with a mountain on the right and a between them. Has anyone any ideas- the camera although about 18 months old has done only three or four hours filming.
