Sony Service Center says they cannot fix--part no longer available

I received a call today from the Sony Service Center telling me that they cannot fix my Video 8 Handycam CCD-TR9. Though it is more than 10 years old, I thought I should be able to find someone who has a part and can repair it. I have asked them to return the camera and enclose a note telling me the part that is needed. Even if I can obtain the part, however, where can I take or send the camera to have it repaired? I can go to anyplace from San Diego to Fresno California in order to take it--needless to say, I can mail it anywhere in the world to have the work done. Any help you can provide will be much appreciated.
