need time & date superimposed on video

I just purchased the Canon GL2 and discovered that I cannot elect to have time and date (including seconds) superimposed on the video as I am recording. I video depositions and must have these elements on the tape. I am also recording out to a VCR which means my line "out" is in use. Does anyone know a way that I can input time and date (including seconds) into this camera and still use the video "line out" at the same time?
