Re[2]: Canon ZR 70MC mini DV digital camera

Nov Posted Apr 14, 2005, in response to:JOMON E KALAPPURA

Pretty much I can't record on the camera. the screen is black. It's really frustrating. There is small vertical lines flickering on it, like it's trying to read something. I need to know if I don't think my friend has the receit. Do I need to take it to a video store. It will probably cost me a fortune, if I have to replace the CCD or the sensor. What can I do?

Is the hum coming from the front of the camera, where the lens is? If such is the case and you don't see any image on the viewfinder, it seems as if the "iris" is not opening. Take the camera into a fairly dark room and look in from the lens. You should see the "iris" nearly fully open. Now shine a flashlight into the lens and you should see the "iris" close. You should also hear the iris motor. It functions much like the iris in your eye.
