bloody camcorder Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I have recently purchased a jvc camcorder, i have put the usb driver disc in that came with it, connected the usb leads but it wont recognize the cam is there???Checked if the usb is working on pc, but i think its the camcorder which needs a good bashing..can any1 help???? :0( PLEASSSSSSSSSSSSSSE Catt
