Seems to be a real pattern here. My KV-32S26 was also manuafactured in July 1997. Last night it just blinked off exactly like we had hit the remote. Won't turn on at all - no light, nothing. Very disappointed. Until last year I still had our first color TV (Sony) from 1972! This definitely changes my opinion of Sony - solid state should last longer than this!
