Re: Sony KV35S42, no picutre Fix

Ahmed Posted Apr 07, 2005

Hi, I just want to share my success story it might be helpful for some one else: Problem: I have a sony 35 inch KV45S42 TV, it is about 4 years old. It lost the picture, still have sound. Some time picture will come on then slide away upward. I read on the net that lots of people was haiving this issue with Sony TV, and few solutions were offered. Here is what worked for me. Solution: I took the main board out and resolder (reflow) all the solder joints. Most of them were Ok but right under the flyback transformer few of the solder joints looked suspicous. But anyway I resolder the whole board, i.e I used the water based flux and put on the solder joints then using the slodering iron to reheat all the joints. That did, my TV is workin fine for last 3 weeks without any problem. I thing with heat /cold cycle (there is a lot of heat generated when your TV is running)the joints become "cold solder joint" means they look fine from outside but internally do not make good connection or with high heat develop some hair line cracks. I have fixed few OBDC for BMW and Mercedes the same way. I hope it help some one, but make sure you know what you are doing. Practice with soldering iron first. DISCHARGE THE PICTURE TUBE /CAPACITOR. THERE IS 30k v CHARGED THERE EVEN WHEN YOU DISCONNECT FROM THE POWER SUPPLY. Good Luck.
