hi, if your lens cap is off and you can't see a informaition, the CCD is defective. You should go to a JVC service center and fix your camera.

Justin Moravetz - 22nd Apr 2005 18:42 I had this problem with my JVC GR-D30U. The only way the view finder works is if I rotate it 180 degrees. Strange, but true.

Did you find problem solution for your camcorder? If you find out please let me know, I have same problem. Thanks.

Just last week, my video cam recorder is now back in shape. It is working, I did not even have a repair for this unit. I just kept it inside a bag for almost three years. I can now view my DV tapes. This is strange.

jb38 - 6th Oct 2008 17:38 Without wishing to appear a prophet on doom its almost guaranteed that it will go faulty again, as these models were fitted with potentially defective image sensors with "all" having the potential to develop an internal fault.
These are subject to a free repair from JVC, the qualification being that you have to be in possession of the original warranty, (expired or not!) and the offer expires at the end of December 2008.
Of course your problem now is that it has to be showing the defect to obtain the free repair, so you will just have to hope it re-occurs before the end of December.
Full info can be sent via direct e-mail if requested.
