PS2 is no longer loading games or movies and I hear a strange sound, like when a computer loads but is louder and sounds bad.

So one day I went to play PS2 and the thing would refuse to load my game. I put in a game, wait till it starts to load, then half way through it starts to make this loud sound, as if its loading but loading badly. With the bad loading sound, I hear a lot of ticks, not like psycho clicks but like 4 or 5 a second. What can I do? P.S. The PS2 is two years old and has not been modded in any way. P.P.S. I have tried changing the disc read speed and all that junk, nothing works.
