Why does my 3 year-old Philips TV turn itself off?
I have a standard 27" Philips Flat Screen (not plat panel) TV that is about 3 years old.
Increasingly, the TV will turn itself off and leave the red "power" light blinking. The blinking is trying to tell me something, but I don't know what. Sometimes the TV will come right back on when I press the power button, but sometimes I have to unplug it to get it to turn back on. This symptom is very erratic so it is not easily repeatable. It happens at least once a week, though???
About 1 year ago, the graphics associated with volume up / down stopped appearing on-screen, but it didn't bother me so I ignored it. I'll bet the fact the none of the "menu" graphics appear on screen anymore (volume, mute, SAP, etc.) is related to the TV powering itself off.
I guess I'd like to know if this is a common problem and if it is worth fixing? The alternative is that I discard the TV and buy a brand other than Philips???
Thanks for any help-
James
