I need help with my Sony Beta-SP Deck! PLEASE HELP!

I have a Sony Betacam-SP video/recorder UVW-1400A and everytime I try to record a tape the deck reads "OXIDE TAPE" and it will not let me record. It has done this off and on before and is usually triggered by having a non beta-SP tape put into it. No matter how many sp tapes I load in I get the same blinking tape light and the message OXIDE TAPE. Plese help! Thanks!
