Display ok no sound from speakers A/V receiver

Last weekend I used my receiver--no problem. Today I cannot hear anything. Speaker setting is on for set one and two although I only have one set connected I have gone over the manual and can't find what stupid thing I might have done. Thanks for any help you can be! Sb
