When i switch d PS2 off after playing, it won't work when i switch it on again...

My unit won't work again after switching it off, have to wait for hours or even a couple of days before it will work again. All i can see is blue screen but there's audio? Thanking u in advance for ur reply, it's been bugging me eversince my brod gave me this.
