PS2 is not reading gold CD and reading the Silver and Blue CDs

I had recently bought the Latest slim PS2 PAL version and i am currently facing a problem reading the GOLD CDs as it is saying that unable to find a PS2 Format CD. Could someone please tell me the reason why this is happenning as it is reading the silver CDs appropriately.
