Re: JVC service or questions

Tim Skowronski Posted Feb 19, 2005, in response to:Stacy Sample

Stacey, I saw your name on the Pechorin's website and had the following question issue/question: I purchased a the AV36FA44 TV a little over one year ago and it no longer works. The repair shop I took it to the gentleman says he has "never seen anything like this" on a TV that is only one year old. Around two weeks ago I was watching the TV and the screen lost color, went narrow on the horizontal and the vertical and then a loud popping noise occurred. The audio and visual were fine after that. I shut it off and watched it the next day when I smelled something burning around the TV. I saw smoke rising for the grill towards the rear of the TV. I immeidately unplugged it from the surge protector after shutting it off. The repairman showed me the board and the vertical circuit has a hole in it which also burnt up part of the board and the horizontal circuit blew a few caps. As stated above, the TV was plugged into a surge protector and nothing was ever spilt onto the set or the area around the TV. How could this happen on a TV that wasn't watched very much the first eight months I had it and how does it get repaired? The gentleman at the repair shop said he would need the schematics for the TV in order to fix it if it is repairable.
